Summer in Barcelona

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Spend the summer in the city doesn’t seems to sound as a good option, but if the city is Barcelona, that’s another story.

Barcelona offers a summer of endless possibilities. First of all, you can go at any time of day or night to the beach to relax from the bustle of the city. The beaches are connected with the city by the yellow metro line or bus. Barcelona beaches are fairly good taking into account that we are in a city of two million inhabitants
During the day, you can visit the beautiful Sagrada Familia, stroll through the narrow streets of the Gothic quarter, or rambling around it’s most famous street; Las Ramblas. If one gets tired of the heat, you can enter at any of the big shopping malls that are in the city centre. Barcelona offers a wide range of shops at prices to suit every taste.
When the sun goes down, you can enjoy the long and warm Barcelona nights. Start by taking a cold beer on the terrace of a bar, dine at any restaurant of the Gothic quarter, and going out in many bars and clubs you will find alongside las Ramblas.

And here it is a sample of how it can be spending the summer in Barcelona

Christmas in Barcelona

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Christmas is a great time for spending it at Barcelona. Main reasons are the mild weather and the shopping. Barcelona is famous for its shopping streets covering mainly it’s city centre with paseo gracia, topped of main chain stores as zara, mango h&m and expensive design shops as armani, zegna or chanel. Also don’t miss their walking streets surrounding plaza cataluña, portal del angel and las ramblas. Some major shops are open on sunday during the Christmas season.
Temperatures can get up to 15 to 20 ºC on a sunny day, so that’s great for that season of the year and compared to the cold and wet northern Europe. Also, main building’s and commercial centres are adorned with Christmas lights, which gives you a new perspective of the city of Barcelona at night.
